Visa extensions are possible, by applying for them through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Holders of multiple-entry Tourist Visas (visa type code "T"), with a validity ranging from above three months and up to 10 years, are required to leave a gap of at least two months between visits. This will be noted as a stamp in their passport upon their departure from India (this rule does not apply to those visiting neighbouring countries, such as Nepal). Those wishing to re-enter before two months have expired must contact an Indian mission abroad to obtain permission, which, if granted, will be in the form of a letter. Within 14 days of re-entry, the visitor is required to register with the Foreigner's Regional Registration Office (FRRO). Any waiver of this restriction will be endorsed on the visa page in the visitor's passport. Note that a yellow fever vaccination certificate is required, if arriving in India within six days of leaving or transiting through heavily infected areas. Also note that the following areas of India are restricted, and require that visitors obtain a permit BEFORE entering them: (Protected Areas) parts of the state of Manipur, parts of the state of Mizoram, parts of the state of Arunachal Pradesh, the whole state of Nagaland, the whole of State of Sikkim, parts of the state of Uttaranchal, parts of the state of Jammu and Kashmir, parts of the state of Rajasthan, parts of the state of Himachal Pradesh; (Restricted Areas) the whole of the union territory of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, part of the state of Sikkim. If surface travel is involved, and nationals travel via restricted areas, they require a "pass" issued by either the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (located in each major Indian city), or the Superintendent of Police (located in each Indian district), or the diplomatic representation of India in Bhutan or Nepal. NOTE: It is highly recommended that your passport has at least six months validity remaining after your intended date of departure from your travel destination. Immigration officials often apply different rules to those stated by travel agents and official sources.

Short History Of india and Culture
Travel tips for your trip to india Hotel Maps Famous Places in india helps you to make your trip to india in the holiday a Splendid One

The people of India have had a continuous civilization since 2500 B.C., when the inhabitants of the Indus River Valley developed an urban culture based on commerce and sustained by agricultural trade. This civilization declined around 1500 B.C., probably due to ecological changes.

During the second millennium B.C., pastoral, Aryan-speaking tribes migrated from the northwest into the subcontinent. As they settled in the middle Ganges River Valley, they adapted to antecedent cultures.

The political map of ancient and medieval India was made up of myriad kingdoms with fluctuating boundaries. In the 4th and 5th centuries A.D., northern India was unified under the Gupta Dynasty. During this period, known as India's Golden Age, Hindu culture and political administration reached new heights.

Islam spread across the subcontinent over a period of 500 years. In the 10th and 11th centuries, Turks and Afghans invaded India and established sultanates in Delhi. In the early 16th century, descendants of Genghis Khan swept across the Khyber Pass and established the Mughal (Mogul) Dynasty, which lasted for 200 years. From the 11th to the 15th centuries, southern India was dominated by Hindu Chola and Vijayanagar Dynasties. During this time, the two systems--the prevailing Hindu and Muslim--mingled, leaving lasting cultural influences on each other.

The first British outpost in South Asia was established in 1619 at Surat on the northwestern coast. Later in the century, the East India Company opened permanent trading stations at Madras, Bombay, and Calcutta, each under the protection of native rulers.

The British expanded their influence from these footholds until, by the 1850s, they controlled most of present-day India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. In 1857, a rebellion in north India led by mutinous Indian soldiers caused the British parliament to transfer all political power from the East India Company to the Crown. Great Britain began administering most of India directly while controlling the rest through treaties with local rulers.

In the late 1800s, the first steps were taken toward self-government in British India with the appointment of Indian councilors to advise the British viceroy and the establishment of provincial councils with Indian members; the British subsequently widened participation in legislative councils. Beginning in 1920, Indian leader Mahatma Gandhi transformed the Indian National Congress political party into a mass movement to campaign against British colonial rule. The party used both parliamentary and non-violent resistance and non-cooperation to achieve independence.

India’s history is its essence, ungraspable but never far away. Its thousands of years have seen hundreds of invasions, the rise and fall of myriad empires and colonisation by the Mughals (who built the Taj Mahal), Portuguese (the first European powers to arrive and the last to leave, in 1961) and the French, who established themselves in Puducherry (Pondicherry).

Perhaps the most well-known of India’s colonisers were the British. The Mughals granted British traders a licence to trade in Bengal in the 17th century; by the early 19th century India was effectively under British control but it wasn’t until the mid 19th century, following the Indian Mutiny in 1857, that the British government took over administration of India from the East India Company.

Notions of Indian independence were temporarily pushed aside at the start of the 20th century and India fought alongside Britain in two world wars. It was during this time that one of India’s greatest political figures came to the forefront. Mahatma Gandhi preached a policy of equality to be gained through passive resistance. In 1942 he introduced the ‘Quit India’ campaign and was imprisoned, not for the first time, for subversive behaviour. Gandhi was assassinated in January 1948, not long after India gained her independence from Britain in 1947.

With independence came the decision to divide India into Muslim and Hindu territories; a decision that is reaping the seeds of discontent even today. Indian foreign policy continues to be dominated by relations with Pakistan. The main cause of friction is the status of Jammu & Kashmir, a disputed territory straddling both India and Pakistan.

In July 2007 Pratibha Patil became India's first female president and her supporters hailed her election as a victory for women. She succeeds APJ Abdul Kalam, an esteemed scientist and the architect of the country's missile programme.

Travel to India: Explore Its Natural Splendor
Travel tips for your trip to india Hotel Maps Famous Places in india helps you to make your trip to india in the holiday a Splendid One

India is a land of all seasons; there are very few countries in the world where you can really enjoy the heat of summers along with chilling winters. India is a nightmare holiday that plunders every tourist with the never-ending visitor attractions. India is lucky in having one of the worlds most wide spread and productive domain, made up of the great earth. Seasons in India can be divided into group of months like March to June is Hot Summer, July to October is heavy rainy season also called Mansoon and November to February is Chilling Winters. If you are planning to travel to India it will be better to know when and where to go to enjoy most of the country.

Summer:
Summers in India are diverse in dissimilar states. In northern region it’s extremely dried up and along the coast it is extremely moist. It depend on you what type of climate you like better. If you are looking for some enjoyable climate then you should move to Mussorie, Nainital but if you really desire to feel the temperature then Rajasthan is the place. In South India, I would suggest Munnar. It's a truly charming city set among gorgeous tea plantations. It is not yet a large traveler target yet, so is not spoilt. Those with spiritual leaning may find Badrinath, Kedarnath as nice outings. Those with an impulse for adventure; I would propose Valley of Flowers, Manikarna near Kullu, Manali-leh driving, & Man-Sarovar.

Winter:
Most excellent parts in India to see throughout chilling winter are Rajasthan and southern parts of India. These regions are actually very hot in summer and hence winter - Sept to Jan is the greatest time. You can also go for wild life tour. If you prefer snowfall and chilling winters then Northern India is the place. You can go to Kashmir, Shimla, Dalhousie, Mussorie. Then while returning back come via Amritsar and New Delhi. You can also go to Agra, Jaipur and Chandigarh from New Delhi. These places are worth visiting places and Agra’s Taj Mahal is off course world famous.

Rainy Season:
To imagine about it, rain makes the valley lush. Its all shades of green but the off beaten track at the same time, is what gets washed in the rain. When monsoon rains sweep across the country with daily downpours and a high possibility of flood makes traveling hard except North West which includes Rajasthan and Gujarat is predominantly dry and arid with the Thar Desert occupying the far western area. The monsoon has small or no effect on the climate and precipitation is negligible throughout the year. Many municipalities in Rajasthan are made up of sacred lakes and these are at their most excellent during monsoon season. For an example you can think of Aravali hills around Fatehsagar and Pichola lakes in Udaipur.

It is better to prepare well in advance about your travel and plan few things like how you will be traveling and where you will stay. There are excellent hospitality services available on all parts of the country. It will be better to book hotel well in advance, you can do so from many online Hotel Booking web sites. There is wide array of cheap hotels and budget hotels in India if you are on a budget trip. Always compare rates on internet before booking and try to negotiate as much as you can.
